ENT Training: Laryngoscopy [[OPEN]]

"Be careful with that," warned Lorie. "You can do serious damage to your voice."

"Oh I will." She said getting.g off the table and getting ready to walk with Ry when Ry started coughing

Lorie frowned at the sound of the other woman's cough. "That doesn't sound good..."

"It's nothing I'm not use to. I'm a singer so coughing is something that comes with it."

"It shouldn't be, though. It sounds like you've got some damage going on. Let me take a look at you."

"I don't want to put you out like that. I'm sure you have other patients to See"

Clary looked" Ry get checked out and I will tell Randy to get Dean okay."

"It's not putting me out, I'm not scheduled to see anyone for several hours after this. Since you're not a scheduled patient I do need to get you to sign a paper giving me permission to examine you, though."

Ry nodded sitting down

Clary called Randy

Lorie handed her a clipboard and some papers.

"Hello?" Randy answered.

Ry read the papers be for signing them

"Babe I got checked out and I have to stop yelling, but Ry has a bad cough and they are checking her out. Get Dean and tell him what's going on."

Lorie took the papers, and set them aside before picking up what she needed. "Alright, before we decide if we need to do the scope on you, open wide for me, please. stick your tongue out as much as you can."

"We'll be there soon," said Randy.

Ry opened her mouth wide with her tounge out

"Okay."

"Okay," she said after a moment, "now, I want you to say 'ah', and I want you to try to hold that out, like you hold a note when you sing for twenty seconds if you can."

"See you soon,"

"Aaaaaahhhhh." She said for about five seconds before she started coughing.

"Okay."

Lorie frowned, going to get the numbing medication so that she could insert the scope to look at her new patient's vocal cords. While she did this, she went over the explanation of the procedure, just as she had done with Clary. "Now, once we get this camera in place I'm gonna ask you to say a few things a few different ways, I might ask you just to hold it like I did just now, I might ask you for a few short sounds like if I ask you for four short e's then that's just gonna be 'E. E. E. E.', if I ask you for four, and hold, then you're gonna do those for just like that, but on the fifth one you're gonna try to hold it for those twenty seconds. With the words, I'll ask you those the same way, a few times really short, like 'cat. cat. cat. cat.', or four and hold where you're gonna go 'cat. cat. cat. cat. caaaaaaaaaaaat' and hold that a out for those twenty seconds, okay?"

She nodded looking at her

"I have a feeling I know what's going on, but we need to find out for sure."

"Okay." She said a little worried

"Do you have any questions for me before we get the scope in place?" Lorie asked.

"No." She. Said

The med student nodded. "Alright then, let's get started." Carefully she swabbed the side of Ryleigh's nose where she would insert the scope, and slipped it in place. "Does that hurt at all?"

"No." She replied

Clary watched before getting a txt saying the guys were there

"Okay, let's start with something short, and simple then. Let's try the four short sounds, and let's start with an 'ah'."

"Ah.Ah.Ah."

"Okay," said Lorie, making notes in Ryleigh's chart, "now, that first thing I asked you to do, let's try that again, hold that 'ah' out for me again."
